Title: master brake cylinder seals
Post by: tommycon on 05 January 2011, 18:37:49
hiya
as anyone replaced the seals on the master brake cylinder? if so how easy of a job is it ?
anybody know how many different master brake cylinders there are? do some models share the same or does it depend on engine size or year?
i`ve done this job  a few times on older vauxhalls and range rovers and i`m thinking it should be the same.
my car is a 2.2 dti
many thanks Paul

I'm not sure you can buy them any more - but easy if available.

Seal kits not available for any of the Omegas. Looks like there is only one cylinder listed for all face lift models.

Trade price your looking at £157.14 + VAT

Cheers

Go second hand, not a common issue on these.

yeah, can't recall ever being asked for a Master Cylinder so a used one should be ok

so do you reckon a 2nd hand unit of any facelift will be the same???
only reason i was gona change the seals is because my brake pedal creeps down if i keep pressure on it, no fluid leaks so assumed it was getting past the seals

make sure that the bore is the same when you change.

the bore size is cast into the housing - you could have a choice of 25 & 20 or 25 & 25
