.... has come adrift allowing water into the engine bay and coil packs etc.
Suppose I should sort something with it as it's lashing down ATM.
Any suggestions on an adhesive?
I could put it through as a wondscreen claim but elefant insist on auto windscreens not autoglass so I'd rather have a go myself I think...

I don't think there is anything that will compete with Sikaflex.
Never used it on a windscreen but wouldn't be without it on my boat. Absolutely watertight.

Passed our local autoglass today, and after some discussion we took the scuttle off for a closer look, seal is a push fit, clips on the edge of the screen so scuttle needs to be off to re fit it. Job done, lads at autoglass very helpful.
However, when I remove the scuttle to fit insignia washer jets, I might remove the seal again, clean it and run a small beed of clear silicone along the seal to screen edge just to make sure.

I had the same problem But I think mine had been bodged previously and the seal would not clip under the screen. As a temporary cure I purchased a clear waterproof seal from Wilkinsons and ran it along the joint. That was about 9 months ago and it is still OK. I thought I would wait untill I needed a new windscreen for a proper repair but as usual no damage has occurred to enable an insurance job. At the same time I put a new seal under the joint in the scuttle cover and extra seals under the cover at the wiper stalk holes.

Chris, try your local motor factors and ask for windscreen sealant. It's the same black stuff that Autoglass use. It sets to a point but never sets completely :y

Thanks guys, I'll look onto it, all the scuttle clips had busted off so I guess somebody just pulled the scuttle in an attempt to remove it. Full vx history, sigh!

+1 on the Sikaflex, gleaming stuff.... I always have one handy when sailing. I still dont know why they dont sponsor a sailing team :-/

Wontaud's "seak and seal".........brilliant stuff.
Stays liquid until it finds a level, sets semi-solid afterwards, peals off easily with a blade, and seals GREAT!
Industry only stuff, but you can get it on ebay no probs.
