Title: Engine Oil Filler Cap 2.2
Post by: DaveA on 11 January 2011, 21:23:49
Hi
I have a leaky oil filler cap running down onto the plugs and giving the impression that the Cam Cover Gasket as blow?
I have noticed oil around the neck of the filler hole when servicing  today. Will replace it anyway, but is it common? Have replaced gasket twice in the five years I've owned the car, hope it was not this cap leaking. :o

If yours was a V6 I would suggest that your breathers were blocked.

When where your breathers last cleaned?

It's a 2.2 four pot.  Cleaned early last year doing them again now.

The oil filler cap has a large o ring on it (or should). O ring available on its own

Is it the same cap as used on the V6?

IIRC it relies on the spring in a pair plastic 'ears' on the base of the cap. If it is the original cap maybe a new cap would help?
