Post by: Raymienets on 12 January 2011, 12:58:41
Was advised to remove spark plugs and turn it over and watch for spouts of coolant. Well done this and Cylinder 4 was like a fountian. Waiting to get it towed to garage. All A need just after xmas.

I would still be getting a pressure test done to confirm :y

On a 4-pot it's not that difficult.  Even with the costs of tools and parts you are looking at £300 tops diy, much less if you have the tools and the head doesn't need skimming.

Garages will charge anything from £350-£700  :o

I did mine on my driveway last Feb. it cost me around £150 and that included £35 to have it skimmed at a local machine shop with new studs & nuts  :y

Shame you're not near one of the mobile experts, they can do it in a day for you for much less than a garage would charge
