Title: Should it have an LSD?
Post by: Justanother Dave on 12 January 2011, 18:44:33
Hi Guys,
So I just got my Omega 3.0 MV6 Auto, and in an "experiment", it seems only one wheel spins. I assumed, maybe incorrectly that the MV6 had an LSD. Can anybody shed any light on this.

Love the car so far although it sounds like I have a leaky vacuum hose somewhere, and it smells a bit hot after a gentle drive.

The MV6 didn't have an LSD as standard. Very few retail Omegas did, and a minority of Police ones. :(

EDIT: The "Smelling hot" Might well be oil leaking from the cam cover gaskets. A common problem, but not too difficult to sort out.

Have a peruse of the maintenance guides and you will find guides to this, and also the vacuum pipe setup.

Few Omegas have a LSD, might be slightly more if it's a white ex-plod, but still don't hold your breath.
Hot smell could very well be an oil leak from one or both cam covers dripping onto the exhaust manifold. Use GM gaskets, pattern are apparently crap, & clean the breathers.
All documented in the maintenance guide section.

Thank you chaps, I'll get it up on the ramp over the weekend and have a good poke about.
