Post by: dunpullin on 13 January 2011, 20:45:30
hi again
found a couple of hours to-day to have a go at cleaning & regreasing the ignition barrel
apart from removing the covers nothing else matched what is in the guide
no sign of barrel release hole
flat electrical conection under the barrel
round soft plastic over the front of the barrel with the key positions marked on it
needless to say all this put the wind up me so i've put the covers back on and i'm looking for more help please

Unplug the flat electrical plug, the rubber disc with the I II etc. on the has 3 small locking tabs and pulls off then the black immobiliser box slides off the same way. Put the key in and turn to the first click then push a small allen key into the release hole and Robert is your fathers brother ;) :y

More of a gentle pull than brute force. There is one tab at the top, gently pull it up slightly using a fingernail and give the ring a wiggle, it should just pull off then.
