Title: Manual Gear Box Oil Change.
Post by: P6UL K on 13 January 2011, 18:19:56
Evening all,

I've had a quick scan thru the guides section and it would appear that there isn't a 'How Too' on changing the gearbox oil on manual cars.

I'm after the recommended oil to use for the gearbox, i'd imagine its like most manual boxes with a low drain plug and a high filler plug?

I could do a 'How Too' if that's the case?

The [size=24]BIGGEST[size=11]TIP I CAN  possibly give you is

before[ you drain the gearbox undo the filler plug!! I have seen 2 or 3 fall into the trap of draining the box then finding out the filler strips its splines and they cant fill the box so cant use the car!!

Yes you do want the Vx oil and nothing else. The gearbox really needs the right oil and even Vauxhall had a few goes at getting it right.

The genuine stuff isn't expensive either.
