Title: Few Omega Problems :( Mainly Gearbox
Post by: Dre on 14 January 2011, 02:26:36
Hi guys, i'm having a few problems with my Omega but it's mainly the Automatic gearbox, mine is a 2001 3.2 Special.

First of all sometimes next to the display unit, a small cog warning light with a "!" will appear and the auto box will not change gears itself meaning i have to change manually. If i switch the car on and off this fixes it however.

Secondly, sometimes when travelling down a hill or a flat road applying no throttle, the car will automatically shift into neutral and won't shift back into gear when i accelerate.

I'm prepared to replace the gearbox (Car is Ex-police and has 144,000 miles) but was just wondering if there's anything else i can do before to fix it?

Many Thanks

More likely to be the selector switch on the side of the gearbox, on the nearside. Usually if you take the switch off and take it apart and clean it the problem is solved  :y

that's your car's way of flagging up a gearbox fault. Try to get it on a fault code reader.  :y
