Title: Timing on mv6
Post by: unlucky mark mv6 on 12 January 2011, 21:56:00
Is there anyway to tell if the timing is out on a 3.2 without stripping it?,or what else could be the cause of high fuel consumption?. :-/

It can sometimes be seen on live data dependant on how far out and where. Who did the belt last time? PM if you don't want it public ;)

Either via tech2, or a good blip of the throttle and watch them actuate, so on the 3.2 an assistant will be needed, throttle cable cars can no blipped from the engine bay but not drive by wire.

Although violent blipping of the throttle may not be such a good idea if the cam belt is suspect for obvious reasons. So up to you. Maybe a thorough inspection of vac pipes and electrical connectors instead? :-/
