My 2003 2.2 auto has exhaust emission indicator lit (picture of engine).
Errors reported Throttle Position Sensor, Oxygen Sensor & Lean Exhaust. Starts well when cold, starts well when hot, major problem starting 3 -4hrs after being hot - it splutters, fires on maybe one or two cylinders, eventually runs (so far) but pretty roughly for 1 -2 mins then is O.K. Also has some lack of power when agressively accelerated as when overtaking - falters some.
Been back to Vauxhall dealer several times no progress other than the resetting of alarms. Does anyone have any ideas or pointers ?
Thanks in anticipation.

Next time it's cold unplug the MAF and try it again. The light will still be on but see if it starts and runs better from cold. Once it's warmed up a little plug it back in.
Where abouts are you? Maybe someone local with the ability to clear the old codes off and re-read them.

I am in wildest west wales - next stop NY.
It starts O.K. when really cold and when hot but after 3-4 hours of cooling it really struggles.
3 - 4 hours is when you want to come home after a night out!!!

Hi Welung666
You are definitely on to something.
Run up to guesstimate temperamental temperature.
Started O.K. with MAF unplugged , reconnected spluttering, missing very lumpy. Repeated cycle of starting connected & disconnected, again same results.
Where do we go from here?

You need a new MAF :y
How far are you from Telford?

I live in Pembrokeshire, so it is a fair way to Telford.
Will look for a replacement MAF locally. Thanks very much for your help.
