Title: lpg
Post by: Omegatoy on 20 January 2011, 08:12:50
just read the post on engine preheaters and lpg(had both) deffo recommned engine preheater!!
Hmm got me thinking here,
I ran lpg for years on me 24v,s mostly ZAVOLI and etagas systems if i remember correctly ,(first one i cant rememeber but it was a mixer system not injection) they were not as advanced the the current ones but served me well enough even on the racetrack!! however all of the kits i had on my cars had the same hidden little trick for emergencies, if you switched the the lpg/petrol switch on and off 3 times the car would start on gas not petrol,it was recommended to just hold it on a steady throttle for a while to warm it up a bit but it worked(was very handy when the fuel pump for petrol died meant i could get to work all week until i could replace the pump at the weekend, instead of having to do it on the tuesday night!!
  anyone tried it on the current setups?

cant remember of the first postion was on petrol or gas so it may take couple of experiments to get it right way round!!
let me know

edit thinking about it it must end on gas!! so start the sequence on petrol postion!!

Most modern injection systems can be forced to start on gas. The Stag kit can but will not auto switch to petrol (if you run out for example) until the car has been switched off and started again normally

Hold in the button on the control panel while switching on the ignition 'til it beeps, IIRC.

If it starts, and runs like a dog for a while, it worked. ;D
