Hi guys.I drive A W 2000 MV6 30ltr man,had a new water pump installed by an x member in november, every thing spot on.But,i be grateful if any if anyone could enlighten me on a few bits of info ;).First off is it normal for temp guage to climb all the way to 98 100 deg :o,b4 fans kick in,then temp drops down to 85 90,mostly in traffic guys,or is my temp sensor cutting in later than it should, which brings me to the next ?has anyone modified the temp sensor to kick those fans in sooner because im thinking ahead to the summer,I Love :-* this motor guys, its a far cry from the 20ltr carlton cdi i owned back in 2003.The last thing i want to do is cook that beautiful lump.Oh for the record guys shes done 100,000 despite temp she never boils :y John Watford..

In short it is normal for the 3.0 engine to hover between 85-90 degrees, and in heavy traffic during hot weather it can creep to 95-100 degrees, but then as you say the fans kick in and the temp. falls. All normal there.
However, if you are worried about it I would drain the system, flush it threw thoroughly, then refill with Vx anti-freeze to a 50/50 mix. ;) ;) ;)

I wonder if you are missing your slow fan speed :-/ They are designed to run at half speed to start with & then run up to full speed. The pink connector in the under bonnet fuse/relay was shown in a post today, so maybe you could make a start by testing whether the fans will run at half & full speeds. You might have a duff fuse somewhere. :-/
