Hi all
I have a few symptons that I think point to the HBV, but not sure why.
Losing a couple of pint of coolant a week with no sign of where its leaking.
One minute the heater is blowing hot, the next cold.
One minute the temp gauge is reading high the next low. Could someone confirm these are all symptons of a faulty HBV before I strip the skin off my knuckles trying to replace it. Oh and the whereabouts of the temp sender.
Cheers Glyn

Possible it's the HBV. Have a feel around it for any wet spots.
Both coolant temp sensors are at the back of the head on your 4 pot. Reach in from the drivers side and they are on the bridge just before the EGR valve. 2 wire plug is the ECU temp sender abd the single wire is the dash sender :y

Thanks.
I have checked around there but couldn't feel anything, but I couldn't get my hand all the way round.
I,ll probably just change it to rule it out anyway.
Thanks

Take the wiper arms and skuttle off, it'll make getting to it a lot easier. TOP TIP: Get a cushion on top of the engine and kneel on it, you can reach right down the back of the engine from there ;)

when my hbv went it only leaked when on a high heat setting, might be worth running the engine and changing the settings while stationary to see if you can induce the leak
