Title: Filling up help
Post by: npope on 24 January 2011, 13:50:58
I have an estate and filling up takes ages, the pump clicks off all the time no matter which diction I put the nossel in.  Is this common or is there a technic to filling up

only ever have that on an occasional dodgy pump with any of our estates, same as any other car,

When I get one, I just squeeze the trigger 3/4 rather than full on and that normally sorts it, but this is maybe once or twice a year

Ive had this problem in the past and it was the breather pipe on the tank not letting air in and the fuel was backing up it the filling pipe causing the pump to knock off.
You can somtimes tell if this is the problem as after a run when you take the filler cap off  it will make a hiss sound as the air rushes into the tank
