Title: Creaking - new damper ?
Post by: bigdods on 01 February 2011, 16:55:53
I have a creaking noise coming from the OSF, sounds like an old bedspring. Creaks when I bounce the car on that corner. I guess its probably a new damper needed - at 160k on original dampers its not really a surprise.

Which dampers are people recommending now ? KYB ? And where is the cheapest place to get them from.

Is it worth replacing the springs at the same time ? I assume I can pick up springs from the same place that sells the dampers. Or are they coilovers and bought as a complete damper/spring unit ?

Is there any other possible cause for creaking ? I guess ARB or maybe the spring itself is damaged (will find out later in the week)

Cheers

Damper or wishbones ?

Hmm I was just thinking the same. The lemforders on there right now have been on for ~40k so could need doing again. In fact the more I think about it the more likely it is to be the wishbones.

Best place to buy them from ?
