Hi all , not too sure if this is the right forum to ask this question , so apologies if it belongs elsewhere .
Has anyone ever put NOS on one of our beloved omegas ? preferably a 3.0 or a 3.2 :y
-
Sure I read somewhere that the 3.0/3.2 crank is only good for 250bhp ish.
Both of the forced induction ones I've seen had big end issues as well.
Defo do your research before doing that upgrade :y

I put nos on my 2.0. I ran it on 50bhp jets for a couple of months and then put the 75bhp jets in for about 3weeks then I sold the car. Definitely made a difference with no problems to the car (its still running fine 15k on). Still got the kit and will fit it to my 3.0 at some point.

Buick did a supercharged 3.8 V6 in their late 90's Riviara, (based upon the Omega floorpan). Maybe the bottom end is compatable?

It was a pushrod 12 valve 90o V6 engine of 1960's parentage so not much in common with the 54oengines. They were only about 220 BHP supercharged too. Used in the more limp-wristed Holden Commodores though. ;)

well , if no-one has done it then i think i've just found myself a little project for the summer :) decision time auto or manual , 3.0 or 3.2 hmmmm . does anyone know which models have the strongest boxes ?
-
Would think you are better off with a manual. 3.0 and 3.2 had same box in them :)

excellent , i'm thinking a 3.0 then , on the basis that i will probably blow a few up whilst experimenting and its cheaper to pick up the older cars/engines .

what's the attraction of NOS ?
surely you have to re-fill the bottle often - and where....?

i just fancy playing about , its more for a laugh than anything else to be honest , i've been forced into a very very early retirement due to various factors and basically i'm bored , i've been out looking at a unit today and i'm strongly thinking about really getting into the whole OOF thing , buying cars breaking em and then letting em go for peanuts to fellow members to fund my tinkering , would be nice to smoke past jezza in his merc too ;D might send them a challenge one day in my nitroused turbo supercharged omega :D straight out drag race , stop them killing all the remaining omegas for stunts >:(
