Title: Traffic Master Problems
Post by: oro on 07 February 2011, 17:42:08
On my 2000 facelifted elite there is a trafic master button, I have never subscribed to this service and the only time I ever heard from this facility was if I accidentally pushed it.
Recently the annoying announcement it gives has taken to starting each time I turn the engine on, not if just the ignition is turned on.
The question is how do I disconect it?
I tried serching the help section and the FAQs but nothing so far.

a double tap of the traffic master button button will shut it up.

That maybe a sign the car battery is starting to age...

As for disconnecting the traffic master, it's a little plastic box that sits behind the dash somewhere between the stereo and the steering wheel, just follow the wires back from either the switch or the stereo until you find it, then unplug the connector.

Nope - Automatic Mode/Manual Mode is only valid if licenced.

As Brikhead suggests, this symptom is a sign of a battery that probably needs charging or replacing.

Before you stole borrowed the TM unit from mine and father T's, the occasional start where it said "License expired... bla bla" a double tap of the TM button would shut it up for weeks  :-/

Coincidence.

He does long journeys, so possible battery was causing it to go off intermittently (due to low-ish battery), and a decent run gives it a good charge :)

If that doesn't work, Mike, I'd be happy to take a look next time you're passing. :y

£30 a year, thats about 8p a day, if it stops you from getting stuck in Motorway traffic say twice a month, then well worth it.

Use mine on the M25 all the time. :y

Many thanks to all.
I will try as suggested, and call on Kevin if that fails as always.
Thanks Kevin

As said, about £30/year.

Is it worth it? Depends what roads you use regularly and how far you drive... To me, it's superb! But only used in conjunction with a decent radio station and common sense :y

i personally think they are about as useful as a non-alcholic beer at an OOF meet. Never gave any meaning full information when ours was active, often gave false reports. Useless bit of kit, but then some people like them  ::)
