Post by: mahony on 08 February 2011, 13:50:46
Anyone know why the 3.0 elite auto is listed at 9 sec to 60mph and the 3.2 with the same gearbox and only 8 hp ish more is listed at 8 sec,ive been in both and i honestly cannot tell the difference in them acceleration wise  :-/

BHP is not as relevant as Torque figures when it comes to acceleration :)

DBW has a more responsive throttle, 3.2 manifold also breathes better than 3.0

Figures are also often massaged for marketing purposes, to make insurance less costly, etc.

About 8s is right for a 3.2 auto saloon. Can't imagine the 3.0 would be far behind it. Certainly not a whole second.
