Title: omega 2.5 td timing chains

well looks like i will have to atempt to do the timing chain and tensioners on my v reg 2.5 td carnt seem to find anyone wanting to do the job locally  [smiley=sad.gif]

Its not to bad a job, I did mine last year. Get your chains, guides and tensioners from BMW as they were almost £100 cheaper than Vauxhall ;)

teesside n/east 243 plus vat thats  chains tensoiners crank   seal and timing cover gasket iwill try bmw tommorow  :D

I've found this too ......  ;)
Many parts are both cheaper and more readily available from BMW people :y

I paid £200 including the VAT and that was delivered to my door ;)

Just out of interest ... how do know when your timing chain needs replacing & what was your mileage?

the   timing chain started to rattle at tickover then about a week later the chain jumped as i was starting the car up it sounded like a bag of hammers lost power and loads of blue smoke came out of the exhaust it has 151000 miles on the clock :'(

If it's serviced regular then chains should do you a life time my tractor is 183k on the clock but ive changed the oil every 2000-3000 miles for the 2 years ive owned it.
Others will agree oil changes must be done 3500m MAX :y
elite pete posted some pics a while ago or was it a how to i can't remember
