Title: Oil filler neck
Post by: RolandL on 08 February 2011, 19:43:23
Hi Guys n Gals, will be changing my cam cover gaskets next week and have just been going through Haynes.  It says when you have taken off the oil filler neck, replace the gasket.  Is this absolutely a must, as haven't seen it mentioned in the cam cover "how to", or can it be re-used if in good condition.  :-/

Roland

ps If the gaqsket must be replaced does anyone have a part number for it  :y

I recently changed the cam cover gaskets on mine and didn't change the oil filler neck 'O' ring. TBH I cant see the point as it cant run under much pressure, and the neck is only really there to aid pouring oil in without spilling it over the engine block.

Isn't the concenus on here to discard the long neck unless you are filling up with oil in order to try and reduce the amount of mayo build-up?
