Title: Pressure in the Expansion tank
Post by: EXD on 12 February 2011, 22:02:07
Hello

Is it normal that the water bouble's up when you lift the cap to the expansion tank, if the engine's hot and the engine is idling?
Its like some kind of pressure in the system?
Can it be air in the watersystem...?

Yes it is, that's why the cap has a warning on it!  ;)

pressure cap keeps cooling system at approx 15psi to raise the boiling point of the coolant,if you remove the cap when hot and engine running you get instant boil up as pressure is lost.
