Battery / battery holder in fob? Switches known to fail also.

Is you remote equipped with red led ? Can you see red light when you press any button ?
-
I had the same, turned out to be nothing more than the buttons inside being U/S - replaced the buttons and presto.

I get the feeling your not based in the UK, so access to Tech2 is going to be an issue.
To program the keys you need the carpass, which is a credit card sized bit of paper with car details on it, and a program session with tech2.
As others have mentioned, do you see a red LED when button is pressed? Its between the lock & unlock buttons.
Why was the car supplied with no working keys?

Beware programming keys with that piece of junk "My Naff Code Reader" - it has been known to corrupt the Alarm ECU.

I was going more on the username, and phrasing of his post. But I could be wrong :)
