i no the hbv needs doing and the vac pipes aswell but its misfiring alot alot of smoke from the exhaust and from the engine bay oil is like milk chocolate so maybe hg ? what does anybodt think?
-
Hi Ben.
There was a lot of mayo in the filler neck but I presumed its because the car has only been run on the drive and not taken for a good run out. Check the oil on the dipstick and make sure thats clear.
-
yeah i checked the dipstick its milky like chocolate something has mixed with it?
-
Have you taken it out for a good run yet? Its hard to say because your HBV is leaking water badly which could account for the water loss and the car hasn't been driven for a while just started and run on the drive which could be the reason for the mayo.

on saturday i went to rotheram and back it was ok on the way but when it was in traffic i would overheat and go in the red on temp gauge but when i was on motorway it was fine but later on sat night it developed a misfire and has been running very ruff since then and a lot of smoke i mean a lot
-
Sorry to sound thick, but what is "HBV"?
-
i think heater bypass valve maybe?
-
H.B.V, heater bypass valve. situated at back of engine, shape like the star-ship "Enterprise".Transfers coolant to and from heater matrix. HTH :y
-
Yeah HBV is Heater Bypass Valve. Was the car in the red for long :(
-
when i get out of traffic and get up to about 40mph it starts going back down but the whole time you are stopped its in the red and also if u go below 30-40mph it starts overheating too?
-
Smoke or steam ?
-
dunno really its white and loads of it i thought it was smoke but maybe it might be steam?

Thats not good. Do the cooling fans kick in?
-
yeah i heard them come on
-
I would guess at Head gasket.Leaking HBV has allowed coolant to get low and the engine has overheated, blowing the gasket(s).
-
yeah thats what i was thinking i dont think its worth having it done if it is that.how much do u think it would cost to have head gaskets done?
-
Several OOF mechanics within striking distance. Might not cost as much as you think. ;)
-
ok so if anybody want to come and check it out and fix it get in touch
-
Might be worth having a chat with Wellung66/darth loo-knee/elite pete...?
