Title: how do i get rid?
Post by: griff2494 on 20 February 2011, 18:05:30
hi all

just done my hg and now seem to have a bad air lock in the coolant system

i have no heating ,the top pipe going to the heater matrix(running throw the bulkhead)gets nice and warm, but the bottom matrix pipe that going into the bottom rad pipe stays cold so does the bottom rad pipe, top rad pipe gets nice and warm

any ideas how to resolve this prob??? am i right in thinking it sounds very much like a air lock??

cheers
griff

The best way is when cool, remove the header tank cap and with engine running start squeezing the top and bottom hoses.  That should push the trapped air through.

 ;) ;)

run the engine from cold with the header tank cap off, squeeze/'burp' all the large hoses. You'll see a noticeable drop in the level when the 'stat opens, just top up & keep an eye on the level over the next few days.  :y

note to self ....... don't get distracted in the kitchen half way through replying to a thread.  ;D
