Good morning,
One of my rear self levelling shocks is leaking. if I decide to replace them with ordinary gas shocks, do I need to replace the springs with a different type?
Car is a 97 3ltr elite estate.

I had a similar dilema as I have a almost knackered o/s shock.
When I had a closer look found the n/s spring had also snapped so needed the lot.As I always have a boot full of work stuff decided to replace with like for like s/l set up.
Bought springs from KYB via partsbuy at £80 next day delivery and s/l shocks from VX on club card at £73 each .
Shocks can be bought fairly cheaply but the springs seem to be a mine field...in the end it depends on what car is used for and mileage done.

Pull fuse 27 to stop the pump, and let the air out of the shocks by removing the plug on shock body. See how it drives and what the ride hight does....
....i suspect probably yes. But not tried it as my self levelling springs where removed long ago as they are way too soft. (edit) for my taiste.

Does anyone know for definite whether the standard springs on a 3 litre elite estate fitted with self levellers will be ok to use with standard gas shockers?
