Title: oil cooler
Post by: tango on 24 February 2011, 18:37:47
hi guys
quick question
sorry for being thick but does the oil cooler cool the engine or gear box oil
and if it cools the engine oil then would you see a drop in oil level if the cooler failed
thanks

Oil cooler, cools engine oil, if oil cooler has gone or going oil will be in your water system  :y

it sits in the valley of the 'V' in full coolant flow, so good coolant maintenance is essential. If it starts to leak, then oil goes into the coolant system  :y

There are 2 oil coolers on auto models

One in the V of the engine as said - and one in the Radiator, for cooling the auto transmission fluid

I expect it's the engine cooler you're referring to, though.

Do you have a fault, or are just curious? :y
