Poor old tractor clutch went yesterday so thought I'd get a quote and do glow plugs at the same time £700 to £800 is the price they came back with so not worth it what do u guys think? Could it b time for a new mig estate? Also going to need 2 tyres soon and tax runs out next Monday bloody hell. I would appreciate a little advice cheers. :-[ :(
-
Sounds a bit pricey but would you be able to get another one as reliable for that money? :-/
-
Thats way too expensive and should be half that price
-
Cheers guys I don't know anyone else in the area really I'd like someone from the oof to have a look. Lazydocker u saw the motor at the thetford meet a while ago just don't know if it's worth it also The Boy asked how much I payed and he's said bloody hell I could have got one for £400 and I payed £1200! :-?

I can't remember last week mate :-X ::) ;D
Is the clutch completely gone? Could you limp it to one of the OOF Mechanics?

I'm not sure who's close by and ive been off the scene for a while and not sure what will happen if it completely goes as I'm not to good with cars and as I said need glowplugs 2 tyres and tax soon don't know if I should get another if there's a good one about for around £1000 that might make more sence but then I know this car and what's been done already. I suppose breaking it would b a possibility but would it be worth it ho dear that sounds like ive given up already :'(
-
what year is it and is it i good condition.
If it is good its well worth doing (not at that price though)
It would break my heart if i had to get rid of mine

depends what year? mileage? history? spec? rust? do you love it? does it do all you want it too?
FYI clutch takes around 3 hours start to finish, prices for clutch are around 150 to buy assuming you dont need flywheel and thrust bearing, glow plugs take around an hour but more the first time you do it, tyres? world is your oyster shop around you may be surprised, tax is a necessary evil unfortunatley
let us know :y
-
well mileage 14200, rust the usual plus a bit on rear arches, N reg, spec the full elite everything works, yes i do love it thats why i'd have another, mot till nov tax till monday 28th feb 2 brand new rear tyres i was looking at the whole picture i should think by the time ive done these things the bill will be over a grand :-?

Cheers i'll look into that :y but still wouldnt mind looking around for elite mini face lift or facelift

If you want to keep the car, you can. Clutch can be done for less than half that, and glowplugs are cheap enough, (have you tested them?) Tyres can be sourced from here, already on Mig rims, with enough tread to keep you on the road until you can afford new. It is up to you.
::)

if i can get clutch and glowplugs done at a reasonable price then brilliant as for tyres i can sort them i think glowplugs are about £12 each plus gaskets also battery seems to drain (new last year) it would b a shame if she had to go but shes getting a little tatty now as i now have a child and a lot less time to do stuff (i was warned that this would happen by u guys some 19 months ago!) just been on fleabay to see whats available and have been toying with the idea of getting a newer model thanks guys :y
-
Haven't tested glow plugs but I'm sure The Boy said 1 or 2 are bot working and that was the summer before last
-

Its an early 2.6 so could have problem with the valve stem oil seals ;)
-
Ho dear I'm starting to lose the battle! Running out of ideas now tax runs out on Monday and don't want to buy it if I'm getting a different car as money's tight as we all know. R valve stem seals going to b a constant problem then :'(

It seems that Vauxhall used inferior valve stem oil seals on the early 2.6s all the rest of the range seems not to suffer
-
Is that an expensive job if it does go wrong and I take it there is a better quality seal that could be used if so? Thanks Pete

I nearly bought a mondeo st24 estate yesterday whilst in a state of panic! ;D

Do u think I should steer clear of this then as I may go and have a look tomorrow cheers
