I wish to clean the oil pick up and wondered if there was a little how to on here somewhere including removal of the sump? (Didn't see one in the maintenance guides)
Should I buy new torx bolts( or just use existing) and a new sump gasket? Is anything else needed?
Any pointers appreciated :y

I've never worked on a 4 pot so no idea what's involved, but a V6 sump is glued/sealed with grey sealant & I'm sure yours will be too. Reuse the original bolts.

Thanks, can you get the sealant from the stealers?

Yes. It was almost £10 when I bought some the other week ................ to do her Smart's oil pick-up pipe. ;)
it comes in a mini bathroom sealant type tube so you'll need s skeleton gun. :y

I think a 2.2 has 2 gaskets, one above and one below the baffle plate. Not sure on the cost I think Jn600 said about £36 (ouch ), and not held in stock. I am planning to do mine soon, but was hoping to get away with something like Multigasket.

be careful of what you use then Ken. I used Vx's grey when I refitted SWMBO's sump. Th eoriginal problem had been similar to the OP problem - flickering oil pressure lamp at idle - and the problem turned out to be the silicone instant gasket the had been used to refit the sump in a time before we/she owned the car. The silicone that had oozed out inside the sump had broken off & been picked up in the pick up pipe. (there are pictures somewhere) The grey sealant seems to stay harder .... :-/

Thanks Andy, grey sealant it is.
Or I could always weld it up.......... ;D

Mine has been bringing up the "check oil level" a fair bit recently. Some days nothing, other days a couple per trip. The worst was one day when there were 5 seperate "check.. warnings, next day none :-X

I have no oil warning light. On a cold morning when i start i get a slight clackety sound from the engine and i thought to clean the pick up pipe as a precautionary measure. I take it then that i just remove the lower sump?
