Title: v6 inlet divider
Post by: henryd on 05 March 2011, 17:43:51
I have found a set of 3.0 v6 cams for my 2.5 but sadly the divider is missing from the donor engine,do I really need it??,and will it make much difference to the end result.
thanks.

They are quite a bit bigger.

I never realised when first changed my cams from 2.5 to 3.0 that it was a good idea to also fit the sandwich plate from a 3.0.

Had driven about 10 k miles with upgraded cams but no increase in sandwich plate and was quite impressed with the additional performance. When sandwich plate was also changed I cannot honestly say if there is a measurable difference ,but am sure the extra size of the ports must improve the air flow,so I like to think there is an improvement.

I am sure you will feel the improvement when the cams/sandwich plate is all upgraded..only down side is I do know you will use more fuel, especially as you want to enjoy the extra "beans" you have under your Right Foot.

Thing is - although the plate is larger - surely you're still limited by the port size on the heads?

So, won't really get any noticible difference unless you port the inlet's on the heads?

I did this to my lovely old 2.5 (RIP) and it did fly along nicely..
