Title: Losing coolant from header tank
Post by: Francis on 06 March 2011, 20:33:56
Hello All. I have a x25DT 1997 bought it with 4.000 mile on the clock from Vauxhall in 1998.I have a problem with the coolant system. It is losing coolant though the cap on the header tank. This only appears to happen if I drive the car a bit quicker than normal ie 85 on the motorway instead of 70, or climb a steep hill. Temp gauge is at normal. The header tank has
been replaced, also the cap, coolant, fan switch on radiator. The twin fans work. There is no sign of coolant on the engine or on the garage floor apart from the drips from the header tank. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
Regards, Francis

replaced with new or second hand? Header tanks have been known to crack below the filler neck.  :y

I have been having the same issue.

At first the temperature guage would shoot up to the top under hard acceleration or steep hills, but replacing the radiator has cured this.

I have ordered a new expansion tank and cap, and will let you know how I get on.
