I noticed today when using the CC when I set the temp to say 23 degrees, the fan comes on a high setting (quite normal I guess) to reach the temp quickly but then fan speed remains high and temp gets quite uncomfortable i.e. exceeds chosen temp and keeps on blowing hot air. This is on both AUTO and ECO mode.
The last time I drove the car, it would reach the desired temp and the fan speed would automatically die down to maintain the temp.

I had a similar problem with mine, would run at different speeds no matter what the fan speed was set too. Had to change the heating resistor located under the glove box to fix the issue.

Is it easy to get to and replace? (if that is the problem)

It took me about an hour, you have to remove the glove box and airbag cover, there is an how to some where but I can't locate it at the moment. Got a resistor off eBay for £45, they seem to go for anything between £45 and £100

Up under pass. glovebox to the right of the heater blower motor. Held in by two clips. Don`t snap the clips when trying to remove. Can be done with glovebox in situ but fiddly.
If your`s is knackered, got one here if needed :)

i would have thought that if the resistor had gone it would only blow on highest speed, have you tried testing the fan speed by using the manual speed control ?
if this works then the resistor is ok, i am not sure but think there is a temp sensor in the car which if goosed would cause your problem

Good point Fiend, mine hand gone nuts on auto and manual, which is why I swapped out the resistor

I belive these can cause it to go funny if its not :-/

The fan speed can be manually adjusted and it does blow on lower settings so the resistor is ruled out. Re: outside temp, this morning I remember it was between 7-10 degrees which seems about right. I use CC with only the drivers side on, passenger side stays off if that makes a difference.

yup imo if fan speeds work on manual the resistor is fine
outside temp sensor seems to be working (better to recheck tho just to be sure it does change)
.......also the dual-zone sun sensor on the dash
as robg said this can interfere with climate aswell but as for testing it sorry but not a clue :-/
if i am not mistaken isnt there a reset procedure for the climate control ???? i think it is off and auto buttons pressed together :-/

I think Tech2 can take live readings.
I don't know if any generic readers can do the same (I doubt it :()

Thanks Andy. I'll try the reset procedure first before anything else. Couldnt find the reset procedure in the manual, can anyone confirm its as fiend61 says?
Out of curiosity is there an ideal setting for the CC? This is my first car with climate and I still havent got to grips with it. I understand ECO is basically heating without dehumidifying but what does AUTO do? If neither AUTO and ECO are selected is the system still dehumidifying the air? What does AUTO and ECO do when they are both on?
Sorry for 101 questions, I must sound like a right numpty. :-X

Tech II and "My Naff Code Reader" can take live readings of the CC system .
AUTO on the display means the air distribution is controlled by the CC system ... it decides where the air should go to keep the temp stable , ie to feet , head or any combination of , uses the outside temperature and the sun sensor on the dash as well .
ECO on the display means the Air con is turned off , ie the aircon compressor is turned off .

Tried again just now and still the same. Reset it and still no change. Its really annoying me :-/ :-[

in that case i think you need a tech2 to read the climate data im afraid :(

I AM a numpty! When I tried to reset the climate, it was done with the engine running and having read another thread it doesn't work this way. Well I reset it again (properly this time, with buzzing noises to confirm it) but haven't tested it but will do it tomorrow.

Was going to post as much, but you beat me to it, not sure why but the face lifts seem to need the key in position 2 for it to work on occasion. It does sometimes work engine running, but not always. Odd!
Pre fl work any time no problem.
Worth a try, but not hopeful tbh. :-/

Lazydocker - outside temp appears to be working, when I looked yesterday it was 8.5 degrees so probably right.

did you get it fixed ? i have a similar problem, the heater blower is on all the time at a very slow speed, no matter what number between 1 and 9 r auto it stays slow, and stays on even with ignition off, i have had to remove the fuse to stop it :( any help would be appreciated, if i take the heater blower out is there anything i can physically look at to see if its damaged/can be fixed ?

My question is not tightly connected to this topic, I just did not want to start a new one.
Well, the aircon system is dismantled now.
Am I to do anything with the COMPRESSOR ?
I mean , it's dirty and oily and needs cleaning outside... but I wonder if it's a good idea to dismantle it in order to check it from INSIDE (I don't know...bearings....gaskets....etc).

i am haveing a simmilar problem with the fan.. on lo or hi the fan speed is fully controlable, but when i set the temp to a number of degrees then i have only some controll of the fan. i set the air flow in all directions and if i choose 3 lines for fan speed it shuts down completely, then if i choose 5 then it starts at full speed although it is not at maximum. these speeds depend on the interior temp and it does not matter if its eco on or off. i have another car (vw passat) and if i set to 25 degrees it will blow the air at 25 degrees at my desired fan speed

Hello. I have the same problem. When I set temperature and push AUTO button, blower keeps its maximum speed, no matter the temperature of interior.
If I manually set speed of blower, it slows down no problem.
I have checked live data. Interior and exterior temperature is correct, so I assume sensors are working.
Any help? Is it possible that I will have to change air condition electronics (with buttons in dashboard...?)
