i have found water in the n/s footwell on the elite, I know you can get water on the drivers side from the matrix seals but this seem to be clean water ie no antifreeze in it any ideas anyone.

yep, as Entwood says or you could end up with a heater motor full of water. :o
-
Thanks to both of you will check in the morning as i have a day off at last.

I know this issue
A bit of a bugger wearing waders wilst driving :o
-
You should also check the pollen filter as it becomes in-effective when it has been soaked
-
Had a good clean out today and you should see the crud i got out. It did not help with hole that plod had put behind the glove box for a cable run that is not used anymore, shame they did not cover it up after as its about 50m/m above scuttle drain and 25m/m in dia. :'( now looking for a good rubber bung.

I checked mine a few weeks ago and it was blocked. cleared it and changed the pollen filter and my mild steaming up issues have gone :y
-
Sadly, if a lot of water has come through the motor, be prepared for:
whining fan bearings in a few weeks
speed controller to go beserk
:(
Worth keeping on top of the scuttle drain, moreso if you park under trees etc
-
I just hope the water went in via the hole as it is below the filter we will have to see. next chance to have a look will be Oxford meet so I think glove box out anyone got any rubber bungs about 20-25 m/m dia.
-
If you have a sunroof & it's not the scuttle, it will be blocked drainage pipes that run from the corners
-
had the same problem. check drainage hole where pollen filter is. No need to remove glove box. Just sure you include this in your service schedule. Gets clogged with all sorts of crud. will get filled up if car washed or rains:y

I had this problem and think it was due to a leaking windscreen

How thick is the metal where the hole is? I have a whole boxful of blind grommets for electrical boxes, both 20 & 25mm. Will send you a couple if any use?
Would suggest some silicone or instant gasket to fix in with tho...

the hole is approx 50mm if it was anything like my ex-plod
just two things make sure that you clean scuttle out and dry the carpets and the underlay really well or else you will still get steaming up and quite a horrid smell fairly soon :'(
