Title: Whats the difference?Opel Omega/Vauxhall Omega
Post by: Dioptre+150 on 12 March 2011, 11:06:34
Is there a difference between Opel & Vauxhall Omega?  I was told some were manufactured in Germany, others in UK,the former having better build quality, any truth in this at all?   If so how can they be identified, mine is badged Vauxhall Omega Elite 3.0?   This is my second Elite 3.0,both on "T"plates, but the engine in my current one looks like the later type, with off-side spark plugs more visible and easier to access than my other one!   I am confused!

All omegas were built at Russellheim in Germany
All the V6 engines came from Ellesmere Port in the UK

Purely badging - Opel is not sold in UK, and Vauxhall is not sold outside UK.

Trim specs will vary country to country, so there will be spec differences between Vx and Opel.

The ones with the Vauxhall badge have the steering wheel on the right and on the Opel ones its usually (but not always) on the left  ;D ;D ;D

you used to be able to buy Opel in the UK, as a kid I lived in Oldham and the local garage was a GM/Opel dealer, we bought an Opel Kaddett? Bronze with vinyl seats, I remember my mum being burnt by the upholstery one hot summer lol.
Oh and they had a white Opel Manta outside......mmmmmmm :P

One of my better cars was a '79 Opel Ascona, (VX cavalier), very solidly built motor. :y
