Title: Elite stereo head unit....
Post by: blackviper90210 on 09 March 2011, 19:29:58
Hi all,

I currently have a CCRT700 with multi changer in the boot. Being the Elite with a Bose system, I've read that not all aftermarket headunits can replace the factory fitted ones... easily.
What can I fit in place of the CCRT700?
I would like a single cd headunit that uses the steering wheel controls and display on the dash.

TIA  :y

You need to rip out all the bose.

Then get a new HU, new speakers, and adpaters (if available for the HU) for steering wheel and display

Hi, I'm wanting to change the HU as well. I can understand that the Bose amp will need to be bypassed but can I still use the speakers (I guess the sub woof will be redundant?
Thanks, Andy

NO----the bose system uses speakers rated at 2ohms most aftermarket headunits require 4ohms

Bugger, that sounds like too much hassle!

Swap the changer then  :y
I don't know if you use copied cds but they apparently damage the lazer so could this be it?

These Bose systems were brilliant in their day when the cars were newish but are now a major pain in the arse due to every bloody componant being proprietory  >:( >:( >:(. No upgrade unless you rip it all out and start again from scratch.

I do normally use copied discs, but I'm using originals at the moment. When playing it keeps skipping then jumps tracks etc...  :'(

Because you have shagged the laser.  Once shagged, it remains shagged (actually, gets progressively worse), it will not automatically fix itself by using original CDs I'm afraid. The damage is done.
