As above, I have just learnt that the bolts for front seat are longer, are there any other issues with this I should be aware of?
(Not bothered about rear seat heating....I never sit there)
-
not obvious but aesthetics, mini-facelift seats look wrong in the facelift, they really do. Seen black leather in dark interior facelift, really did not look right.
-
LOL
Well if I dont like them I will change them back ;)
-
Oh s*d it...forgot the bolts were longer...they are sat in my pocket!! If you need them I will of course send them...

As long as you`re not bothered about front seat heating `cause they won`t work either :D.....and the headrests won`t be "active" either
-
Why's that? Not overconcerned with the front seat heating but why wont it work?
Don't worry about the bolts, I'm sure I can sort some but if you can just measure the thread and let me know how long they are that would be appreciated.

F/L seats have thermostatically controlled heaters (1-5) all others are just on/off
-
Oh well, they dont seem to work on the present seats anyhow so I wont miss them.

In your neck of the woods I`m pretty sure your arse will know when it meets ice-cold leather ;D ;D

LOL
Nah I am well insulated ;)
Ultimately I am sure I can swap the pads from the old seats to the new (or is it just the control circuitry?) but thats a job for another time.

the heating element of a leather seat is integral to the cover. ::)

Doh!!

Doh!!
That's why you fix what you've got if you can.
-
TBH main reason I got them is for the leather not the heaters. Like I said I can live without the heaters but if they are there it would be nice.
How about the electric movers?
Are they just plug and play (there is a large unused yellow plug on the present loom) or do I have to splice them in (as I expect)?

that's a question for the electrickery experts here ......... ;) ;) ;)

Seat heaters won't work, for reasons suggested, also you need to tell your insurance company that you have downgraded some of the saftey systems in the car (removed the active head restraints).
Pretty much, you cannot swap seats between prefacelift, minifacelift and facelift models.

Right, I trial fitted the passenger seat, and can confirm that theres no additional wiring required for the seat movers, just plug and play :) (The spare plug is for the memory I think)
My plan for the seat heaters is to operate from a relay switched from the on/off bulb on the rotary controller, ok so they will not be variable just on or off but should work ok, just need to sort a wiring diagram out as haynes does not cover facelift.
As for the insurance implications on the active head restraints......I hear what your saying.
One more thing, on the MiniFL are there only 2 rear headrests?
-
Nope...3 headrests, one must have fallen out in transit as there were 3 to start with...
Will get the bolts in the post to you 1st class Monday :y

I think you will struggle with the heaters. If you want heaters, you are going to be so much better off buying the correct seats.
Passenger seat will always just plug in for movement, drivers needs some wiring tweaks.
-
Cheers
Don't suppose you can be more specific on the tweaks required for the drivers side?
Struggling to get a wiring diagram for the facelift. Probably just have to buzz it through.
As for the heaters.....I enjoy a challenge and I am an electronics engineer by trade so I dont think this should be too difficult ;)

If you have a Haynes (seat ecus and wiring (for movement) is same for all Elites), its quite obvious - its just providing 12v and 0v to right places. Look at the connector under seat, you can see one is obviously power, but gets power from more than just the 2 pin main power connector at the sill. Mod it so all power does come from that sill connector :y
Minifacelift heater may just need 12v supply, as I think its a simple affair. Facelifts have a controller in the seat, which is probably little more than a thermostat.
