please what rpm should a 2lt 16v auto tick over at
mine is 900rpm seem a little fast no more ajustment on butterfly thanks  :y

 :-? The butterfly should be completely closed at idle...
The ECU controls the idle speed in partnership with the Idle Air Control Valve on the front side of the throttle body, bypassing the butterfly. 

Not sure what's going on with yours. Edit: 900rpm is a bit fast, somewhere between 700 and 800 is better I think. :-/

Clean the idle air control valve (IAC) and check for air leaks.

I guess maybe some extra unmetered air is getting in via a leaky vac pipe/connection. 
Spray some carb cleaner around in the vicinity of the outside of the throttle body, and along any vac pipes/breather pipes and their far-end destinations, listening for changes in revs which would indicate the leak.
Edit: don't forget to check around the brake servo vac pipe too.
