Title: Location of oil pressure switch on Y22DTH engine
Post by: Taximan on 21 March 2011, 20:29:39
Hi,
Could anyone tell me the location of the oil pressure switch on a 2002 Y22DTH engine ? (No Haynes Manual).
Also is it possible to install a permanent oil pressure gage, and how ?
Thanks in advance,
Regards,

Hi Taximan,

It's on the side of the block, underneath the turbo and behind the alternator. Trace the oil feed from the turbo where it screws into the block and the switch is just back from that.

I think that you could replace the switch with a pressure sensor. Some of the 'sporty' vauxhalls have the guage instead and I assume that the oil pressures would be similar (2-4bar). What this would do for the light in the dashboard I'm not sure though. . .

In order to prevent such problems it is best to put a "T" piece in .. then the "old" switch goes on one branch and the new gauge on the other .. :)

Hi, JGMerlin & Entwood. Thanks for you swift replies.
I think I will just replace the pressure switch along with an oil & filter change tomorrow.
All the best.
