Title: MV6 3.0 water leak.
Post by: Amigo on 21 March 2011, 21:38:29
Further to previous posts & phone calls Loo Knee guessed right, the leak is coming from the back of the nearside head gasket. (Clever boy Dazzle! :-*) We're going to have a go in house with some help from another mate but need to know:-
Is there a head gasket kit so we have all the o rings etc. Do we need stretch bolts? Can we just fit the gasket or is the head u/s. The engine has'nt been cooked & temp has'nt been in the red, the engine still runs smooth as silk & pulls as well as ever it just pees water. James V6 CDX has been very helpful but this is new ground to us. We've got torque wrench & angle gauge but the loan of a cam locking kit would be appreciated, (i'll pay postage both ways), any tips & expect questions on here & phone calls if we get stuck...which we probably will.
  Cheers, Guy.

It can seem quite daunting at first, but just take it one step at a time. I wouldn't recommend working against the clock, just do a bit as and when you get the time and feel in the mood for it   :y

Lots of abbreviations Jaime. I take it stat is thermostat so will need a new gasket? You really have to explain things in laymans terms mate, cam cover bits?...mls?.. GREEK? :o
