Title: Cambelt change

Hi...got a bit of a strange question. Have a quote from a garage to change the cambelt on my Omega 2.0GLS but he has included a replacement of water pump. Having never had to change one before , can someone tell me..is this essential due to the positioning of cambelt on the Omega or is the guy trying to pull a fast one so he can charge me more.

Waterpump is driven by cambelt on 4-pot so may as well change it while it`s all stripped

its worth doing, as above, its cambelt driven. Its not unheard of for the waterpump to let go, taking an engine with it.

For the extra £40 odd it would be, its worth it while its all stripped down  :y

Quite the contrary.

It is a requirement to change the water pump on your engine, at each cambelt change.

You'd be daft not to... :y

Thanks guys for your eloquent wisdom as ever  :y Just have no previous experience of Omegas and their setup so of course I checked in with you...cos I got absolutely A1 advice last time when I had a lumpy engine running problem. Now looking forward to my camblet change  :) Strawb

M local Vx dealer quoted me £147 for a water pump for my 2003 2.2 !

Said it would have to be shipped from Germany.

Needless to say, I told them no and got one from my local car accessory shop for £23 !!

also how much have you been quoted for this? vauxhall dealership do them for well over £400. due to their wonderful ''quality promise'', they'll do it blind folded and try to fit it in the boot!!!!

ask one of the omega gods on here to do it. cheaper and you know its done RIGHT!!!!  :y :y :y :y
