Just a quick question related to this thread.
For future reference have any other Oofers used this make of aftermarket Cat ?
are they OK with no problems or issues arising . 3.0 V6 version is what I would require. :y
TIA

Not used aftermarket cats before...I will have a genuine pair available shortly from a 99 3.0 v6...
Incidentally the cats are the same on the 2.5 and 3.0 :y

I would try to get a second hand known good pair of genuine ones if you can.
I have seen all to many of these cheap cats only last 12 months at best.

I brought a cheap one from Kwik Fit Last year, well not so cheap. >:(
Its Horrible the car sounds like its blowing all the time >:(
When the budget allows i shall be sourcing a good secondhand one. ::)

Thought that may be the outcome. :( :(
I don't think mine need replacing yet - just thinking ahead to maybe get a good used set ready :y :y :y

I also had a "not so cheap" non VX cat fitted about a year ago when the internal brick became loose and rattled like mad.
It was a really nasty peice of kit and a total waste of money..made the car sound like a racing car and wouldn,t recommend anything other than genuine vere again..even an old genuine is better than a new elcheapo.
I bought a genuine VX replacement from a breaker and restored my car to a pleasant sound. If you want the elcheapo its for the o/s and you can collect it from kent free of charge .It is laying up against the shed at the moment and has been for the last 6 months .

Thanks for the offer of the Cat, but will probably try & source a set of used VX ones. :y :y
Could I ask how much you paid for your ones from the breaker ? ;)
PM if you want :)

Can you run the car without the cats ?
-
Yes, but not if you want to pass the emmissions test at the MOT.May even have an issue with the law as to the car conforming to regulations. ::)
