Title: Ticking on starting ?

Have recently changed cam gasket / renewed spark plugs / renewed spark plug covers springs etc / cleaned trottle housing /and cleaned breather pipes on my 2.2 . Car now is running a treat but when i start her i am getting an awful and anoying ticking sound, this disapears after e few minuets is it serious or more to the point what is it thanks.http://images.omegaowners.com/forum/yabbfiles250/Templates/Forum/default/smiley.gif

it could be a dry tapit or a leak in the exhaust manifold and closes when heat expands and closes it.

sounds like the lifters are a bit slow at pressureing up.paul

Pop the heatshield off the manifold Steve and you`ll probably find a crack there

Same as me.Crack in manifold.Can this be welded in place?

Hi Rob heat sheild of crack line across top of it can it be welded ?

yes it can!! i was told prob not but i got the mig out and welded it up,easy peasy !!

i just turned the welder down slighty seeing its monkey metal,but nice and slowly (not getting to hot)and jobs a good one!!!!

now theres def no crack/leak
glad i tried as saved me a furtune :-)
