Title: Slight knocking sound
Post by: Omega_Dan on 07 April 2011, 20:13:12
Only just started to notice it but if i go over a bit of rutted ground i can hear a knocking noise which im sure i can feel through the steering. Its not bad but it sounds as if its behind the centre console/bulkhead area.

No effect in driving and steering is fine.

Any Ideas?

Knocking over bumps can by caused by drop links .. easy enough to replace if it is them ... Pete will soon tell you .. :)

Cheap enough if it is droplinks, think mine cost me £18 for a pair of genuine vauxhall ones (although that was clearance stock from a dealer I know). Then of course you have to pay pete and bacon is getting steep these days ;D ;D ;D

Pay Pete for what? Changing the drop links? It takes you longer to jack up the car & remove the wheel than it does to replace a drop link.  :y

I won't mention the air leak that mine developed after Nige cleaned my breathing system then...  :-X

Only kidding Nige! You help was hugely appreciated, and I know now to order a top hat plenum seal in future!!  ::)

The blob of Chrisgixer's camcover gasket sealant continues to do the job for now though.....  :y
