Title: Prices query - parts/time etc against dealer!
Post by: Shelby on 08 April 2011, 09:34:53
I am new to the Omega so not familiar with prices etc (although have found some very useful info on here, thanks).

I have been trying to find out the details of when my car last had a cam change, and going back to 2007 (full vaux sh), they have no record, so it due.

However, also looking at doing oil/filter change, barke fluid etc.  All of which I can do myself however I am unsure of the costs for the oil, filter, brake fluid etc.

Now, I have spoken to the dealer here and their interim service (11th servie is the one due on the book) is £98 + around £26 for brake fluid change if its needed.  Can anyone give me an idea how that cost would compare to buying it all to do myself?

Maybe I am just being lazy haha, but if the costs isn't much different I am happy to shove it in 'the shop' to save me the time / effort.

If you have a trade club card (TC). Oil is around £35 for 20ltrs, brake fluid around £4 per litre or £15 for 5ltrs, oil filter around £2. Interim service is nothing more than a quick look around and an oil & filter change

And they will probably present you with a list of parts which need replacing when they have carried out the interim service. ;)

Based on those prices I would do it myself  :)  Will have to look into a TC I think, have seen them mentioned on here and there are a few things I need as well as the above.

i.e. Front discs and pads, exhaust needs looking at (blowing slightly and rattles a bit at certain low rpm), cam belt needs doing as I can't find out when it was last done, haven't checked rear brakes condition yet etc.

I would expect no less from a dealer  :P

call me on Monday or PM over the weekend with the aprts you require and i'll sort the prices out at TC .

Remember there is also an extra 10% discount of trade club pricers on Brake Disc & Pad Kits, Front & Rear Shock and Road Springs.
Plus and extra 20% discount on exhausts

Cheers

Cheers Andy, it will have to wait for the time being though, cash is a little tight until pay day!  Ill contact you closer to the time  ;)

Front discs and pads plus a manifold is going to be the priority on pay day I think.
