Just thinking out loud here but after having a poke about I was thinking... Instead of using some steel plate to blank the EGR off, could the pipe be removed and both "holes" left behind blanked off with some sort of end stop?
This would have a couple of advantages for me, the biggest being that it gets the short EGR pipe out of the way as the LPG vapour pipes run a little close to it.
If so... Does anyone know what size and thread it is?
-
I remember mark was intending removing the EGR completely when he did my heads.....but there was a problem of some sort which caused issues. I know we remvoed the SAI system, but had to leave the solenoid connected to keep the ecu happy.
-
Yep, I know I'll have to keep the unit to stop the ECU complaining... Just wondering if I could remove the pipe :-/

Why not take the pipe to a plumber's merchant and see if you can find a fitting with a matching thread? Then buy a stop-end with the same thread. Failing that, a bolt of the correct size with a plate welded across the top?

Good plan, except for where I live ::) ::) ::) But I wonder if anyone has an old EGR pipe kicking about :-?
-
I would change the Manilfolds for the 2.6/3.2 then that cures a number of issues in one hit.
I think Guy had his manifold hole which is left when you remove the EGR pipe welded up.
As for the SAI if you remove the pipe at the front with the valve on you could block it off in the rubber by putting up a bolt each side then the spring clip with hold it in place. Another way which I have done alot is remove the pipe that bolts into the manifold (well two pipes into the manifold that join into one pipe) cut off the pipe 10mm after the weld at the front then weld a bolt into the pipe so you have a handle in effect.
Hope that makes sense :D

you may have to wait a while for his answer Albs :D ;D

Yep, 3.2 manifolds would be the neatest solution. Quite a bit of faffing about to fit them, though. :-/

Tempting as that is, it's not a job I would attempt in a car park with a time limit... I need the car on the road at the moment ;) ;)

I bring the fanimolds and block one entrance with car. You block the other entrance with your car and inform the assembled throng that no - one gets out to the curry house until your fanimolds are changed - half hour tops - jobs a goodun. :y ;D ;D
