Hi was hoping someone could maybe help me. My car got a new alternator and belts yesterday and they had to take the battery out to fit it and now the cd player (ccr 2006) is just showing safe on the screen. Nothing works on it. Also my sunroof has stoped working and it was fine before the alternator was fitted to. Ive checked fuses and all are fine. What else should I be looking for?
Thanks,
Nathan.

When the battery was removed & the electrical supply was cut the audio system went into 'safe' mode. You need to re-enter the radio code to bring the system back to life (provided the audio unit is the original one fitted when the car was new) & you will find this on your 'carpass' which is a credit card sized laminated card & should be with your car handbooks. If you don't have one, you can obtain it from any VX dealer who will ask you to produce your cars V5 to prove ownership & will then part you & your wallet with approx. £25 ota. If you are lucky, the code may be written on the radio chassis ;)
The sunroof, electric windows, central locking, & immobiliser will also need re-syncing as their settings will have been lost with the power cut off.

you had the ignition on when you turned the radio off & on? ;)

Ive tried to do it a few different ways but it just keeps reading SAFE. I tried it like it said by pressing the button and turn the ignition on. Then I tried it with the car running, car off, keys in, keys not it. No luck yet :( could my AS button be broken?
-
Put key in position II (or engine running) and turn off the radio...press AS and while doing so turn the radio back on...

Tried that too and no sucess. Could there just be something wrong with the unit that wouldnt let me do this? The cd player can be turned on without the keys in the ignition, is that normal? most other cars ive had dont turn on unless the keys are in.

You can turn all Vauxhall radios on via the on/off switch without the ignition on, it'll go off again in an hour. ;)
Exactly what do you have on the display when you turn the ignition on? :-/ Maybe a fuse has popped somewhere re the radio/CD player.
-
Oh ok never knew, my first vauxhall ha all other cars had to have the ignition on.
I checked the fuse when I had the unit out the other day and when I turn the ignition on it just says brakelight check then wash fluid check as usual and then when I turn the cd player on it just says SAFE
-
.... and then when I turn the cd player on it just says SAFE
so when you turn the radio off, hold CD and then turn the radio back on while hold CD ............. what do you get? :-/

Nothing, its just the same and says safe no matter what I try

I think you'd be better going to a proper audio place. Most of the Vauxhall experts were still at school when Omegas were new. :y

Or have a word with Dave DND in the electrical section.
