I've come here in the hope of some valuable advice. MY 2002 2.2 petrol moggie has had a flat battery. Once I replaced the battery the car is now running in limp home mode. A nice local mechanic said the code relates to auto gearbox control module problem, but that I should take it to Vauxhall for Tech 2 investigation. Has anyone got any ideas?
Any help would be geatly appreciated

Any codes in the gearbox?
Was there *any* codes related to cam sensor in engine ecu?
Don't use dealers, they are poor. I think Elite Pete is in Cheshire, as is one of our Moderators, Jimbob. I'm sure either could check codes, and advise on next course of action, all for the cost of a drink ;)

codes are: P0700 & P1700

GrahamD - are you sure it is in limp mode - does the car give very sluggish performance etc? Forget the dash lights for now - if it is in limp mode all the time then a bit unusual compared to the times I have had those codes come up

Yes, If in Drive it starts in 3rd gear, If I manually select it is jerking between 1st and 2nd. Very little power all the time. Won't rev freely but will slowly make its way up to 70 + on the motorway. Just doesn't seem to want to go beyond 3500 revs.

Can you rev through that when the car is at idle
-
Yes, I can rev through that when the car is in park.

To the redline or does it max out around 4.5K
-
I think it goes beyond 4.5k, but haven't redlined it.

Any codes stored in gearbox, as both of those suggest gearbox fault (though they can appear if the cam sensor has failed, but 99% of the time, that is logged)
-
I have only been given those codes. How do I check for more?

Needs hooking back up to a code reader :(

are the selector lights behaving ok? Mine gave the 1700 when the selector position switch was fubar, also gave 0500 :-/
