Title: Strange Fault Code
Post by: amba on 12 April 2011, 22:16:43
Had a single quick EML light flash up on my drive home tonight.

When I got back I checked the stored fault codes and had...129..register. Now when checked codes on forum it appears to be EGR low voltage.

Is this just a "one off" probably never to be repeated or should I be looking further into this, possibly cleaning the EGR or checking the electrical connectors on the top.

After doing a bit of digging I found a few posts about the EGR valve pintle sticking and advising cleaning with some oven cleaner to remove any soot build up.

Will also look into the possibilty of blocking the valve off with the blanking plate gasket ,but unsure why this is such a good idea if a simple clean up will do the trick.

EGR not really needed on petrols, except for the tree huggers.

I use paint stripper from that pikey shop that exists in most towns...  ...Wilkos?
