Title: ECU diagnostics omega 2litre petrol 2000
Post by: endak on 14 April 2011, 10:01:59
hi all...my omega has been showing an ECU fault and got it what i thought fixed i.e. airflow unit replaced. Problem still occuring and car has at times conked out. my mechanic now tells me that basically he would have to track all the wiring to ECU to see if he can find fault....says not guaranteed to find fault and not worth the cost...simply to get rid of car. there is only 65k miles on it and i love my omega

Sounds like your mechanic is out of his depth but, fear not, most problems are down to a cheap component.

The key is to get the fault codes out of the ECU. I would hope your mechanic made a note of these so might be worth asking. Failing that, as said, paperclip test. Once you have the codes we can make some progress.

Sounds like your guy has hit a problem he doesn't understand, quite common with many mechanics, even/especially those at dealers ;D

Paperclip it, and post results :y
