Title: Can I use Bio Diesel?
Post by: Rich-K on 15 April 2011, 13:29:18
Can any one tell me if my Y reg Vectra 2.0 dti will run on bio-deisel without any problems. I did run my previous car an Omega 2.2 dti on bio-diesel for approx 10000 miles, but ended up with fuel injection pump failure. Not sure if there is a connection, as the meg had had several owners, and was highish mileage, with an unknown service history, and was only regularly serviced during my 12 months of ownership.

Bio fuel from the big brands like BP/Shell or home brew DIY stuff?

Big branded stuff should be fine, but with home brew it all depends what ratios of fuel/oils you use. Don't think the pumps like the fuel being too thick  :-/

As Tunnie says, PROPER biodiesel, that has gone through the correct washing, filtering, titration processes etc, will be fine.

SVO/WVO usually a no-no in the 2.5td though

Not quite home brew, but not shell/bp. I have found a local supplier, their website is :-  www.greenworldbiodiesel.co.uk/

Any comments will be appreciated

Thanks

That price looks very competitive  :y

I'd maybe give them a ring and ask them what ratio of vegetable oil to diesel they use?

I've no idea what blend/ratio is ideal, but some members here run their diesels on Bio fuels and will know whats best  :y
