Bought a new code reader and after having replaced the solonioid have managed to get rid of code p0743 spanner light still not going out new code p0017
-
Are you sure it is P0070 as this isn't a listed faultcode for the 2.2?
If your codereader can reset stored codes, I would try clearing them & see if they/it re-appears? :-/

The code is P0017.When I try to reset it it just comes back on again.

Not P0070

Sorry Raymienets, slip of the finger :-[
I meant to say there is no P0017 listed for the 2.2 ;)
A search for the generic Code P0017 comes up with this:
P0017 Crankshaft Position Camshaft Position Correlation
but the crankshaft fault code for the 2.2 is P0335 afaiaa, so not sure what's going on there :-/

P0017 - Crankshaft position Camshaft position (Bank 1 Sensor B) whatever that means

Okay lets go back to the beginning and maybe an idea to explain what problems / issues you were having before you replaced the solenoid, may help to diagnose. Was the replacement solenoid a new or 2nd hand one? etc, etc.
We maybe able to help better once there's a few more details to hand :y

Problem started with P0743 codeand car going into limp mode, took miggy to auto transmission specialist who said it was either solenoid ot torque converter and he advised to try cheaper option and replace solenoid. Purchased new solenoid from vauxhall and replaced gaskets and ATF fluid. Bought £30 code reader which said it had 2 stored faults. Never read them just reset them then did a scan and got P0017. When I try to reset this code it just comes back on. any advice would be much appreciated as i am pulling my hair out over this.

Most "cheap" - fake/copy/pirate .. whatever it is - code readers are not good, and do not read the gearbox codes properly ... most are based on ELM327 chip AFAIK
So it might be best to get the codes read by a proper reader ... I believe Broocie (Hotel21) will be the closest forum Tech2 to you.
TBH .. without knowing that the codes given are true and accurate we are just pissing in the wind ... :(

Back to square one code
P1700
P0743
P0753
Think miggy might be getting cremated shortly

Which ECU are you getting these codes from?
